As some of you have noted there have been issues with the loading of MonMW.  Limnotech has had internet issues and are working on the problem.  For now everything seems to be working fine, but please feel free to comment in this forum if things are not working or make a post to GitHub – access directly via this link https://github.com/ODM2/ODM2DataSharingPortal/issues or via https://wikiwatershed.org/help/sensor-help/

A document containing summaries and updates on EnviroDIY monitoring stations being used in the Delaware River Basin has been posted to https://wikiwatershed.org/drwi/(see under “DRWI EnviroDIY Project Updates/Summaries” header).  And here is the direct link to that PDF document.  This document has also been placed in Uploaded Files on this site under “Watershed Summaries” and “Sensor Station Info…” categories.

These summaries were submitted by individuals/groups working with EnviroDIY monitoring stations in the Delaware River Basin and describe topics such as data usage, application of data, management of stations, and usage of stations for education (personal and teaching).

Critical questions leading to protocols for conducting environmental sampling/fieldwork (volunteer and professional) in the COVID-19 era.

The attached is a list of questions to consider regarding field work and sampling during COVID-19.  The idea is to think about and plan accordingly regarding all the different issues when sending field teams/volunteers out to tend sensors or collect grab samples at this time.

Update on break in cell service:  All EnviroDIY stations with 2G boards stopped transmitting at 1:45p yesterday (7/12/20). Hologram indicated a major worldwide outage of their network and it’s affecting the 2G network associated with Hologram. 4G boards have not been affected. Station owners/managers should keep an eye 2G stations in the coming days – Hologram has indicated that cell connectivity should come back on soon.

Station owners/managers should reference current battery levels (battery level when station stopped transmitting) and recent trends and consider whether batteries need to be cycled to keep station functioning (without cell connectivity the station will try to transmit frequently and will wear the battery down quicker). Most stations should be fine but if you own/manage a station that is vulnerable on power levels you should consider swapping batteries.

Error on MonitorMW presently.  As some of you have noted when you enter site pages and TSA on MonitorMW you get a “Your connection is not private” error message.  This is a problem with the MonitorMW website itself.  Limnotech engineers are currently working on a fix.  Stay tuned and check MonitorMW as you’d like and please report any other issues.

Station owners and managers, after a major storm like we just had in parts of the DRB it is a good idea to check your station(s) in person even if they appear to be fine.  The stations are very resilient and we identified one today that was entirely ripped out by the storm but is still transmitting.  Depth was the only red flag so if someone hadn’t visited the station they wouldn’t have known anything major was wrong.
