      A Note About Privacy

One of the first questions most people have when participating in a WikiWatershed group is “Who will be able to see my activity?” The answer is: it depends what type of group you are in.

      • Public groups: all group content — profile updates, status updates, forum activity, uploaded files — is visible to the public.
      • Private and hidden groups: group content is visible only to fellow group members.

How do you know what type of group you are in? It will be listed on your My Groups page.

      Navigating to the Group Forum

      1. Click the “Log In” link in the main menu on WikiWatershed.org. Once you’ve logged in, the “Log In” link in the menu will be replaced by your username. Place your cursor over your username and select My Groups from the drop-down menu.
      2. On the My Groups page, click on the name of the group you want to access.
      3. On the Group homepage, click Forum in the menu bar.

      Forum Basics

The forum works like a standard bulletin board where you can ask and answer questions. Posting your question on the forum, rather than asking someone offline about it, means other group members can benefit from the discussion.

      Searching the Forum

To search the group forum, use the search box at the top of the group forum page.

      Starting a New Forum Topic

      1. On the forum page, scroll down below the existing forum topics to the Create New Topic section.
      2. Give your topic a descriptive title (required) and some tags (optional).
      3. Compose your message in the editor pane.
      4. Unless you opt out, you will receive follow-up replies by email.

      Adding Images

Clicking the image button in the text editor allows you to paste in the URL of an image on another website. To upload an image to WikiWatershed.org, you must attach it to the topic.

      Attaching Files

      1. Scroll down to the Attachments section below the text editor.
      2. Click the Browse button and select a file on your computer.
      3. You can attach up to four files to a topic or reply, but you must attach them one at a time using the Add another file link. Do not click the Submit button while uploading images!
      4. If you make a mistake and select the wrong file, just click next on the filename and select a different file.
      5. You will see a warning message if your file is too big. (Maximum file size is displayed at the top of the Attachments section.)

      Editing a Topic After Posting

On the forum page, click on your topic name to open it. Click the Edit button near the right side of the bar that shows the post date and time.

      Replying to a Topic

      1. On the main forum page, click on the topic name to open it.
      2. Scroll down to the bottom of the topic to find the text editor for replies. You have the same options (adding tags, attachments, etc.) as you do when writing a topic.
      3. Unless you opt out, you will receive follow-up replies by email.

      Receiving Notifications About Forum Activity

      Group Digests

Unless you have switched to a weekly digest or turned notifications off completely, you will receive a daily email digest of all group activity, including forum activity. If you would like “instant” email notifications of forum activity, you can subscribe to a topic or to the forum as a whole.

The forum instructions have been updated to include the new log in procedure. If you’d like a printable version, you can download a PDF version from within the group. Find it by clicking the “Uploaded Files” link in the group navigation menu (the black bar below the group profile photo), then selecting “Website Instructions” in the “Category” drop-down menu.
